TMBG

We took Nasai to his first official concert. We were very lucky and got seats dead center, three rows back. He is a big fan of They Might Be Giants. When they went on he became stone cold, and was very quiet. Is favorite song was 'What Is a Shooting Star?' They performed an encore and we let Nasai go up front to the stage during the encore. He received stickers from their drummer Marty Beller. He said John just kept walking away from him(he was passing out stickers to other children on the opposite side of the stage).

on two wheels in Los Angeles

This weekend we took a bike ride around leg lake park in the Whittier narrows park. At first we started off riding around the park. I noticed in the distance a bike trail sign. We made our way towards the sign and we discovered the San Gabriel River. It was a great ride, with trails going here and there. We did end up in a completely opposite part of the park when we went down the bike trail.

trying to turn my thumb green.

We finally got the soil we needed, and had the walkway that goes around the garage cleared out. Now let's hope that something will continue to grow! We planted broccoli, strawberries, yellow tomatoes, thai chili peppers, and serrano chilies...
I also have blackberry roots growing in large pots! I am hoping they will take so i can have blackberries along my fence...

the not so green thumb.

This is my first attempt at gardening, i love the notion of being able to plant and harvest your own vegetables.. Most of my back yard is either concert or on a hill, with not much room to plant stuff. About a month a go i discovered that the back of the garage hand some untouched land, but on a hill. I wanted to build a leveled raised garden bed,but chris didn't want anything to permanent. So we talked about using tires.you grow girlI saw one cute one on the website you grow girl.. I did do a little more research on tire planting and found this websitebackwoodshome, they have a whole article on the benefits of tire planting..lets hope i can grow something. i also bought some blackberry plants, and the trellis is for them.. I cant wait to see it covered with blackberries!

This is my first ever attempt to make a cozy. It happened to end up the perfect size for my camera or my phone. I'm planning to make a basket liner with the exact material, and these are the scrapes from my other project.

The other night I ventured out to a boutique to listen to Porchlight Storytelling Series "Coming Up Short"
For anytime you've ended up with the shitty end of the stick. Which in sense celebrates or doesn't celebrate the shortest month of the year! Several people come up and tell their stories in which the ended up on the short end of the stick. the event was held at a place called Orecul 77.
This is a do it yourself boutique in the Highland park area of Los Angeles. They have a lot of handmade goods and carry a custom line of clothes. You're also able to sell your stuff their on consignment. You can also bring fabric in and whip up something new with it.. Or breathe new life into something old.. call 323.254 2600 to make your appointment with Tawni Marie Lucero the in house clothier.

the york

IMG_1889, originally uploaded by Vanessa Sepulveda.

this is one of my favorite hangouts. The York on york! It's in highland park and it was also featured in sunset magazine.. They serve the best michiladas here too! The crowd starts of with hipsters, but the local homies show up towards the end.. they serve good food and they are family friendly(which is surprising, because it feels more like a bar than a restaurant)...theyorkonyork

weekend trip

Last weekend before the change of American Politics we took a weekend trip up to San Francisco. It was a great trip and Nasai was very excited. We stayed close to Chinatown. We did a lot of walking which is of course not typical for L.A. natives, but it was fun.. I enjoyed being in a city where you had to walk and use public transportation! Nasai was in awe with the Golden Gate Bridge, and the pier..
